It is your CV or resume and it is a written documentation of your achievements in your career, as well as in your life. However, it is not your autobiography.

To maximise the number of potential employers that call you to a job interview, here is a CV writing tip - write your CV with the focus on what they want and what they need from an employee.

The best way to do this is to review the information you have about the company and about the target job. Then, match your skills and experience to the company’s organisational culture and job criteria.

In the top third of your CV, re-enforce the match between them and you in a profile section. Elaborate on this in your work experience sections – the more recent and relevant, the better.

If your cover letter and CV reflect their needs, you are likely to be interviewed, which is the objective of these job hunting documents. Read more about how to write your cover letter here.
